Janet Elaine Agee

Janet Elaine (Ohlrich) Agee, 83, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed peacefully into the arms of her beloved Jesus on Sunday, November 15, 2020. She was born on March 2, 1937, in Akron, Ohio, to Walter and Mildred Ohlrich. She married Robert Lee Agee on June 20, 1959, and he preceded her in death 5 years prior, after 56 years of marriage. She attended Taylor University and is a graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in elementary education. She loved children and would go on to spend the next 50 years teaching them in various capacities: Second grade in Akron; Sunday School at First Evangelical Free Church, backyard Good News Clubs for neighborhood children, and Mayflower Preschool (where she was lovingly call “Miss Jan”) in Grand Rapids. Janet had a quiet, gentle servant’s heart and was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by friends and family. Janet is survived by her children Dean (Kathy) Agee of Grand Rapids and Pamela (Todd) Miller of Britton, Michigan, along with her grandchildren Graham (Casey) Agee, Truman Agee and Elizabeth Agee of Grand Rapids, and Brock Miller of Britton, Michigan. She is also survived by her sister Judith (Robert) Rudolph of Grand Rapids, sisters-in-law Charlotte (Verlin) Walters of Stow, Ohio, and Frances Easterling of Lakeland, Florida, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, the family is planning a private graveside service.
